In Your Head was founded by Shannon Kelly, a lifelong learner and futurist. Shannon started critiquing international commercial advertising reels at age eight and explored the Great Pyramid of Giza the next year. In addition to In Your Head, Shannon is the creator of Trendscaping™ — a website and community platform for sharing and mapping insights, ideas and the evolution of concepts.
Shannon has dedicated her career to the practice of understanding, empathizing, and deciphering consumer patterns. Her breadth of experience in merchandising, product development, and marketing roles at The Bon Marche, J. Crew, Seattle’s Best Coffee, and Starbucks provided an ideal foundation for creating In Your Head, which she formed in 1998 and relaunched in 2005.
Away from her business, Shannon is inspired by the vibrancy of cultures, fashions, and travel. She makes a mean tomato jam, is a superstitious sports fan, and should never be confused with a fire-eating adult film star with the same name. If you like people who enjoy backyard wood-fired pizza parties, big muppet-like dogs, or archive issues of niche magazines, chances are that you will like Shannon.
