Balthazar

There's something so beautiful about sitting at the bar at Balthazar in SoHo. I'm not sure I can put it into words but I think that this photo captures the essence. Movement, lights, symmetry. Every time I look at this photo, I feel like I'm there. It's the beauty of the bistro bar.

Trips worth taking

In London, we found this beautiful assortment of liquids in a wonderful display with handwritten identification tags at Selfridges. Each bottle is a different variety- all priced by the liter. Best of all, patrons can choose a bottle and serve themselves with the assistance of a knowledgeable sales associate.

fauchon

The crème de la crème: Founded in 1886, Fauchon is one of the world's leading gourmet food companies. They produce the ultimate in French gastronomy. The brand has expanded world wide with limited distribution to insure quality, care and authenticity. These beautiful hand decorated mini pastries, each measuring no more than two inches, were purchased in Paris from the flagship location and we love their innovation.

Little Horseshoe

Au Petit fer a Cheval (the little horseshoe), located in the Marais from our visit to Paris the spring of 2004. Inside is a marble-topped horseshoe bar with a larger room in the back. It's cheap and truly French. The wine bar across the street is good too.

Hector was the rent-a-fish at the SoHo Grand Hotel in New York in June of 2000. The SoHo Grand is one of the many hotels across America that allows pets or offers you a free companion for your stay. It was only the beginnings of the pet craze- custom accessories, hotels, designer treats for animal family.
