Enjoy 2009 with Kimberly Baker Jewelry

We were struck by the subtlety this video as an enchanting and beautiful begin to the new year. It's easy to identify with the girl in the illustration because sometimes the answer to fashion (or food) is easier than it seems.

Featured most recently in Gossip Girl, Kimberly Baker Jewelry is a delightful combination of Victorian-inspired elegance and gothic imagery. Fans include Mary Kate Olsen, Scarlett Johanssen, Lucy Liu, Blake Lively and Zooey Deschanel.

Enjoy & Happy 2009!

winter holiday

We're taking a short break but will be back in 2009 with plenty of Trendscaping goodies to share. Happy Holidays to all.

François Payard's chocolate-themed perfume?

{photo: Payard}

François Payard has created a new chocolate-themed perfume range called Inspirations. There are three scents (in order of potency): Lychee Mousse, said to have notes of white chocolate with raspberry and rosewater; Pistachio Ganache, described as milk chocolate with jasmine and lavender undertones; and Bergamot Truffle, a darker chocolate-and-citrus blend. The fragrances are available at Payard Patisserie in NYC and online.

This sounds a little far fetched even for me. Not exactly the line extension that I would choose. Plus, doesn't the packaging look exactly like Giorgio Beverly Hills?

Fortunately, Payard also serves real chocolate.

bzz-bee: raw hand-corked 1 oz. vials

It's true that I'm a sucker for good packaging and a new concept.

Bee Raw single varietal honey is innovative, educational and beautiful- the perfect gift for anyone who loves the subtle nuances of flavor, texture and acidity. The set of 9 offers a complete assortment for any palate & 4-vial flight for cheese would be the perfect accompaniment to Midnight Moon.

steaks can't save Saks

We're a little shocked to find Peter Luger steaks on Saks.com (and have no idea what's with the satchel of foil wrapped chocolate coins). The whole gourmet food thing for the holidays has gotten so big on the success of Dean & Deluca & Neiman Marcus (who just reported a profit of 12.9M).

Unfortunately, specialty food is not saving Saks from the economic downturn. The company is in full fire-sale mode with 70% off designer and according to fashionista.com- it's not much better in-store.

City Stimulus: Save big, Shop Smart!

I wanted to share a new event around food, drink & fashion that we are producing this weekend in Seattle...

City Stimulus is a 4-day celebration of Seattle restaurants, bars and retailers that rewards buyers who shop local and shop small. The concept was hatched only weeks ago in an effort to maintain our local community for generations to come and build awareness. You see, sustainability is not just about the foods you eat or purchasing organic produce — it's about the social, cultural and economic success of every community.

If you are in Seattle, please visit CityStimulus.com to download your free membership and receive special offers at participating establishments located in Downtown, Capitol Hill & South Lake Union.
